What Harms Your Home’s Curb Appeal?

How You Can Ruin Your Home's Curb Appeal

Find out how you can ruin the curb appeal of your house.

There are few things that help sell a home better than curb appeal. The look of a house gives your homebuyers their first impression of the property. But first impressions can also be bad if your home doesn’t look appealing. So how do you damage the look of your house? Find out how you can ruin the curb appeal of your house.

You Have Clashing Colors

This also refers to complementary colors, and we’re not trying to say that complementary colors are a problem. However, generally speaking, understated colors are typically the way to go. If too many colors are overwhelming to the eye, whether they’re too strong or bright, it can discourage homebuyers from looking into your house. Subtle tints and hues are better for selling a house because they’re not as overwhelming.

If you’re going to use bright colors, limit them to very specific areas of your house, such as doors and window shutters. When you limit the spaces in which bright colors exist, your house will be able to make a much more lasting impact on people and get them interested in your property.

Weather Stains Harm Curb Appeal

Weather stains are unsightly for any home, and they give people the impression that the property isn’t well-maintained. If this is what people see on the outside, they might not even want to see the interior because they could think the rest of the house is as messy as your home’s exterior.

It’s not easy to get rid of weather stains, but people will know when you’ve at least tried to get rid of them. Just making an effort to remove them will help improve your home’s curb appeal and let people know that you take good care of your property.

Curb Appeal is Impacted by Cracked Paths

To clarify, we’re referring to paths that lead up to the entrance of your home. When people are getting ready to go inside your house, these paths will be what guide them to the front door, and you don’t want to welcome people with unsightly or wobbly pathways. Getting your pathways spruced up may require bringing in help from a landscaping company. You’ll have to spend a little money initially, but the investment will be worth it in the end when you can properly welcome homebuyers and make them more interested in your house.
