Waterfront Landscape Services

Let Us Be Your Waterfront Expert!

Since our local area (Edgewater – the name says it all!) is surrounded by water, a majority of our clients are waterfront, or at least in the Critical Area (1000’ from water). Actually, the water is what makes this area so great! The Bay is something we should all treasure and that is why we offer greenscapes and organic landscape programs. With a beautiful area comes regulations, so we offer our clients the option to take care of their permitting work for Anne Arundel, Calvert, Queen Anne’s and Annapolis City. Each County and City are different, so it is important to call and find out what can be done in your specific area.

If you work with The Landscape Design Center, we will find out what kind of work can be done on your property prior to providing a proposal. That way, we can provide you with the proper information and give you options that are feasible. It is always best to follow County or City code as closely as possible. They are in place to protect the environment, you and your community. And if we find that you cannot do your original plan, we will help you come up with a Plan B! Maybe even better than Plan A!

Here are a few links to local County and City websites (Waterfront and Non-Waterfront). Sometimes it is best to call and speak with someone:

Phragmites

“Phragmites is a large, coarse, perennial grass often found in wetlands….it usually forms large, dense stands that provide little value for wildlife. Phragmites reduces the diversity of plant and wildlife species.”
Anne Arundel County Website

We have worked with Anne Arundel County and several local communities to help control Phragmites.

The way The Landscape Design Center works with clients on their Phragmites control is to put together a year-long plan in order to control the Phragmites coverage. This will include chemical control AND manual control. It is very difficult to completely eliminate Phragmites since they are found everywhere along our waterfronts. You can try to get rid of them, but if your neighbor still has them, they will come back to you. It is important to understand the process and we will walk you through it every step of the way.

We can also assist you with replanting (reforesting) the area once the Phragmites have been minimized. The County/City may require it and we have extensive knowledge of native plant material.

The Landscape Design Team has worked with many clients, just like you, who want to enjoy their waterfront while relaxing in their outdoor space. We can help you with County and City permitting, variance packages, buffer work, invasive plant control and removal, slope stabilization and native planting. Each one of these elements can play into a beautiful and successful waterfront landscape.

Hey, you paid for it……now let’s help you enjoy it! Here are some examples of what we can do for you.
